Stevie J ‘Blessed’ To Finally Get Credit On Ex Eve’s ‘Let Me Blow Ya Mind’

Stevie J has had quite the career as a producer and songwriter, and he’s now getting his long-overdue flowers for his work on Eve‘s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind.”

Taking to his Instagram on Friday (September 22), the Grammy-winning producer revealed that he’d been finally listed as a “featured artist” on his ex-girlfriend’s smash hit featuring Gwen Stefani.

“22 years ago I wrote this hook, sang on it and added harmonies at beginning of the 2nd verse,” he shared. “Today I was blessed enough to be credited as a featured artist. Won a Grammy for this 1! Divine timing [praying hands emoji] ‘23 is Jordan’s year! #LetMeBlowYourMind.”

In a follow-up post, he shared throwback photos of himself with the Philly rapper, along with a screenshot of the song featuring his credit. “#tbt Circa 1999/2000 One of my favorite rappers! The Legend EVE #DZ,” he wrote.

According to BET, Stevie J and Eve were together from 1997 to 2003, and were even engaged at one point. However, both have long since moved on, and today, Eve is married to Maximillion Cooper, who she shares a son with, Wolf, who was born in 2022.

Before Eve was Ruff Ryders’ First Lady, the Philadelphia native was signed to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment imprint — but only for a brief period. Nevertheless, she continued to work with the former N.W.A hitmaker, which is how “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” came to fruition.

Back in 2021, Eve told HipHopDX that she was grateful for that turn in her career, even though she wasn’t sure how things were going to go at the time she was dropped.

“I don’t think my career would have lasted as long, I think when I signed to Dre, like many artists, I signed and thought this was it,” she said at the time. “This is fucking it, I’m signed. And I had an attitude. I had such an attitude — and not bitchy but more just like, ‘What’s up. When am I coming out?’ I was so ready to come out, but I did not understand being developed as an artist.”

She continued: “And if he hadn’t dropped me, I would not be here, I know that. I would not have come up. I would not have said to myself, you know what? I don’t want to be Eve of Destruction. I just want to be Eve. And when he dropped me, that was when I was like, ‘I’m dropping this fucking persona. I just want to be myself.’ Dropping me, made me it. I thank him now for it.”

Meanwhile, back in July, Stevie J and his now ex-wife, Faith Evans, settled their contentious divorce.

Court documents show that Evans informed the court that she had “entered into a written agreement regarding their property and their marriage or domestic support partnership rights, including support.”

While the terms of the deal haven’t been revealed, the R&B singer submitted a copy to the court and it reportedly includes spousal support and attorney fees.

The filing read: “There are irreconcilable differences that have led to the irremediable breakdown of the marriage or domestic partnership, and there is no possibility of saving the marriage or domestic partnership through counseling or other means.”
