Quavo Teases New Mixtape Following White House Visit To Tackle Gun Violence

Quavo has revealed that he’s planning to release a new project following his recent visit to the White House to advocate for putting an end to gun violence.

On Thursday (September 21), the former Migos member took to Twitter to let fans know that even though he just released his second studio album Rocket Power last month, he plans to keep his loyal fanbase fed with more music.

“Holiday season coming it’s tuff for me but still gonna feed y’all…,” Quavo said. “Mixtape vault music sooon then we go back to the moon wit the Rocket [rocket emoji] #LLT jus putting ya down! Ain gon say nomo twin [infinity emoji] we gone!”

Quavo’s admission comes after he stopped by the White House on Wednesday (September 20) with his mother, Edna Marshall, and TakeOff’s mother Titania Davenport.

According to The Associated Press, all three of them arrived at the historic marker to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and figure out solutions to help curb the gun violence epidemic in America.

The remnants of this same epidemic claimed the life of TakeOff outside of a Houston bowling alley in November 2022. “I feel like your calling comes at the least expected times,” he told the publication.

“You don’t think nothing is going to happen. I need to step up to the plate and hit a homerun,” he continued. “I have to do something about it, so it won’t happen to the masses — especially in our culture. I don’t want this to happen to the next person. I want to knock down these percentages.

“We need to do better with the control of guns,” Quavo continued. “We need to figure out how do we keep these types of incidents from happening to people going anywhere and thinking they can hurt somebody where it shouldn’t happen.”

After their meeting, Vice President Kamala Harris took to Instagram to thank the “Walk It Talk It,” hitmaker and his family members for coming to the White House.

“Thank you @quavohuncho, Edna, and Titania for using your voices to honor TakeOff’s legacy and call for action to prevent gun violence,” she said.

While he and his family were at The White House, Quavo was also a part of a panel discussion alongside Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, Rep. Lucy McBath, and Greg Jackson of the Community Justice Action Fund.

The conversation centered around community intervention tactics, the issue of gun violence itself, and the power in advocacy.

Since TakeOff’s untimely death, Quavo has continued to carry on his legacy in more ways than one. Back in April, he hosted his 5th annual Huncho Day charity football game at his old high school stomping grounds and honored TakeOff through his The Rocket Foundation.

According to AllHipHop, Quavo’s charity event raised $2million for The Rocket Foundation as he previously presented a seven-figure check to his non-profit organization.

It was a star-studded affair at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Georgia where Quavo once dominated on the gridiron. J.I.D, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz as well as NFL athletes Jalen Ramsey, D’Andre Swift, Patrick Surtain Jr., Xavier McKinney, Marlon Humphrey and more were in attendance.

“I look forward to Huncho Day every year because I get together with some of my close friends and come back to the place where it all started for me,” Quavo said in a previous statement. “This year was extra special as we launched The Rocket Foundation in memory of TakeOff.

“It was a day where we got to play some football, raise money for the community, and remember Take.”
