Buku Abi, daughter of the controversial singer R. Kelly, has come ahead for the primary time to debate the alleged abuse she skilled as a baby by the hands of her father.
In Karma: A Daughter’s Journey, a two-part documentary that debuted right now on TVEI Streaming Community, Abi reveals that she reported the alleged abuse to her mom, Andrea Kelly, in 2009 when she was simply 10 years previous.
“He was all the pieces to me,” Abi, now 26, says within the emotional first episode, which is now obtainable to stream. “For a very long time, I didn’t need to consider it. I didn’t assume somebody, whilst flawed as he was, would do one thing like that to me.”
Although Abi, whose actual identify is Joann Kelly, doesn’t delve deeply into the specifics of the abuse on this preliminary episode, she shares how worry stored her from talking out for years. “I used to be too scared to inform anyone. I used to be too scared to inform my mother.”
Abi, who has remained largely out of the general public eye throughout her father’s authorized battles, feels her father’s present imprisonment is becoming. “That second modified my life… it modified who I used to be as an individual,” she displays. After opening as much as her mom, Abi and her siblings, Robert and Jaah, stopped visiting their father.
