Questlove had first introduced the documentary in 2021.
“It goes past saying that Sly’s artistic legacy is in my DNA,” The Roots drummer stated in an announcement on the time. “It’s a Black musician’s blueprint. To be given the honour to discover his historical past and legacy is past a dream for me.”
SLY LIVES! Serves because the follow-up to Quest’s directorial debut, the documentary Summer time of Soul. The documentary obtained the Grammy for Finest Music Movie in 2022.
